The smartphone parking payment service is now using two dimensional barcodes for greater convenience.

Parkmobile is a service that allows smartphone using drivers to use those devices to pay for their parking.

The company has just announced that it is adding a new feature to its services, which allows users to scan QR codes that are printed and posted on stickers on the meters in order to pay for the parking spot.

These stickers will be displayed on meters in the majority of the large American cities.

Many of these meters already offer the ability for mobile phone users to call a toll free number posted on a Parkmobile sign to make a payment. There is also an app that allows drivers to enter a parking zone number to pay for their space. To use that, the service confirms the zone after the license plate of the vehicle has been entered. The rate is then confirmed and the transaction is complete.

Users can also request an alert service to text them in order to remind them to “feed the meter”.

This makes paying for parking much more convenient, as there is no longer the need to bring correct change nor is there a risk of the expiration of the time slot without the driver knowing about it. The vehicle owner can simply add more time without having to run back to the car.

The latest update to the mobile app also includes new updates to the design, a registration process that is much more user friendly, with tutorials to provide additional support, push notifications, and a feature that will allow the mobile device user to find the nearest Parkmobile locations so that they know where to pull in.

With the new QR code capabilities of the service, the process becomes even more fast and easy because it reduces the entire transaction to a single barcode scan. This allows the driver to skip over many of the steps that are involved in the more “manual” version of the service. These new techniques are entirely changing the way that the drivers in various cities are mobile paying for their parking spaces.
